Brisbane-based automotive electronics company, Rotronics, has released a free, informative CD on charge isolators for owners of 4WDs, camper trailers, boats and caravans.

With the fitment of dual batteries in many 4WDs being commonplace, selection of both the type of dual battery and the electronics available to recharge and isolate both batteries, is "black magic".

Rotronics founder, Rod Street, came up with the idea of a free CD to enable owners of 4WDs and other equipment fitted with multiple battery set-ups, to select the correct charge isolator for their application.

Charge isolators are available as either parallel charge systems or independent charge systems. Parallel systems are an affordable, but slower, way to recharge the second battery.

Independent charge systems are far more efficient (by up to 65%) when recharging, and are definitely recommended where a third battery is used in a camper trailer or caravan. They are also recommended where the 4WD does not have a second battery, but is towing a camper trailer or caravan that does. They are certainly more efficient, in that they will recharge auxiliary batteries up to 100% of their capacity.

The Rotronics CD allows a wealth of information on the subject to be accessed easily, and is an invaluable tool for owners of 4WDs, boats, etc., where multiple batteries are used.

The CD can be obtained by phoning Rotronics on 07 3356 0878 or by e-mailing them from their website
